The Beginning of the Continuation
As a young artist, my career began with strong momentum, numerous exhibitions, and a clear ambition to make a living through art. And I did make a living off art for several years. Life, however, unfolded differently than expected—as it often does. In such turning points, one is faced with the question of what truly matters, and must choose accordingly.
When my father suffered a stroke, I chose to pause my career to care for him. During that time I continued painting, but at a slower pace. Art became a personal space—a place for presence, processing, and the maintenance of skill. The form of expression I work within requires continuity, even in stillness.
After my father passed away in 2021, life shifted once more. I returned to my brushes with renewed energy and a desire to share my work again. At the same time, I enrolled at Milan Art Institute to update my knowledge, particularly regarding new materials and techniques I had not previously explored. Within this new artistic landscape, my paintings transformed, evolving into a dialogue between classical understanding and mixed media methods.
My first exhibition after this long pause took place at Annas Blomsteratelier at Melby gård, close to where I live. Exhibiting again—after more than twenty years—was a profound experience. Not within the fast pace of an urban environment I once knew, but in a quieter, more intimate setting that resonates with my artistic spirit.
This is not a return to where I once was, but the beginning of a continuation.
